Gai Eminence, The Forgotten Gainey Stallion

Gai Eminence was born to be a star.  When this colt hit the ground in 1996 he was the tagged to be the best of the Gainey breeding program.  After more than 60 years of pursuing the "Gainey" look Eminence had a bright future ahead of him.  He was the one and only cross of the Gai Radiant line and Gai Monarch lines.  Robin and Daniel J. Gainey were thrilled.   But the moments of euphoria were short lived.  Eminence suffered an injury before he became a yearling that almost ended in his life.  But as fate would have it he made it through some very tough times.  That said more uncertainty was ahead.  Robin and Dan headed for divorce court.  For years I had been an huge admirer of the Gainey Fountainhead Arabian  Program.  I  found the news of Dan and Robin's separation hard to believe since it would more than likely lead to the dispersal of the historic Gainey Arabian program.  But I also understand life's circumstances propel us in directions we can never anticipate.

This quote is taken from The Arabian Horse World magazine in 1996 by Mary Jane Parkinson.  "The pedigree of Gai Eminence includes Ferzon eight times, Gai Parada two times and four examples of the usefulness of the famed Gainey one-quarter outcross.  Tally 90 crosses to Skowronek (every horse in Gai Eminence's fourth generation descends from Showronek, one 16 times.)  All four grandparents are National winners with a total of six National Championships and two Top Tens, both halter and performance.  Gai Eminence's sire is a National Reserve Champion, and his dam is a Cal-Bred Futurity Reserve Champion; both sire and dam are "platinum mixture" breeding animals - three-quarter Gainey and one-quarter outcross.
